In many storys made into movies things get left out, Changed, or new things added.most often though important detals may be left out of the movie. It is the same in Charly A.K.A Flowers for algernon.Characters change (The way they act,feel,change) from transition of writing to the movie.

The characters in the story are alot diffrent from the characters in the movie. for instance miss kinnian was more of a teacher aid to charly in the story, But in the movie she was more of a lover to charly, but she is still a teacher in the movie. Joe carp and frank riley have not changed much they still pick on him and he thinks there his freinds its just they work at a diffrent place and when charlie gets smart he learned how to work the mashine faster then frank so frank got mad. dr.Strauss seemed like a man in the short story but was a woman in th movie. Dr.nemur still seemed the same not much had changed about him. I found that when charley was fired in the movie that the woman who had not sighned the patiston was simply not there. Also his land lady was not realy in the story but a bit more in the movie.

Charly had many things diffrent about him beetween the movie and the short story. Like he progressed much quickr in the movie then the story. He had a relation ship in the movie with miss kinnian.In the movie he tried to force a kiss on miss kinian. He still thought joe carp and frank riley were his freinds when he was less intellegent, and he did not get why everyone hated him when he was smart.

In the story and movie things change.ike places,objects,and things the main character does.They are in bostoninthe movie but in the storythey are in new york. Charly no longer works at a box company insted he now works at a bakery.In the bakery the guys play a trick on him putting dough in his locker(in the movie). Miss kinnian goes to see his room in the movie. Miss kinnian also falls in love with charley and they go to the park for a day to spend time together. Miss knian also tells charly her husband had died in the movie but not in the story, she was dating a guy named frank in the movie,this never comes up in the story. Algernon has a place in the movie as well but its much less. He races algernon a whole bunch of times and loses then he becomes charlys pet and he beats him. later in the story th docters dont tell about algernons death to charly. charly does an autopsy in the movie. It does not inform us of algernons burial place in the movie. Some other detales are charlie has a blackboard to practice spelling in the movie, He goes on a bus tour every sunday in the movie, Miss kinnian gives him the test not a doctor,there is a presentation on charley in the movie, and the list goes on.

Between a movie and a short story there are still some things that remain intact. For example he was a janater in both forms. he thought joe and frank were his friends in both he had a rockshaw test and a race agaist algernon in both. The operation did not hurt in both. he hasalandlady in both. he goes up rapidly and plumets rapidly in both.HE got fiered in both. He likes algernon in both. he does bad on tests in both. algernon dies in both. He was fooled by joe and frank in both but in difrent ways.He starts to like miss kinian in both.

I guess that when you make a short story that becomes a succsess and is asked to be made into a full lengh novle or movie like "Flowers for Algernon" some detales must be left out or changed to make the movie novle work. for example they could not make the movie into a whole buch of progress reports.So comparing the two there were a lot of diffrences and quitea few simularitys.
